I am very new to networking and especially switching, so Im not sure if I even have the trunks set up properly. I have set up Vlan 10, 11 and 12 - only hosts in vlan 12 are able to ping each other. I made sure to double check all my subnets for VLAN 30. However when I set up an ip address on the vlan 30 interface on the switches I can no longer ping anywhere. The alternative is to instead assign the VLAN interfaces the IP addresses and not mess with loopback interfaces. So Im trying to ping hosts within the same vlan across switches and cant seem to get it working properly. I am able to ping from PCs to the Loopback. The machines connected to it can ping the default gateway (192.168.0. If I'm hosting three VLANs 10-12 that need IP addresses (default routes for three different networks) I would potentially have three loopback interfaces with an IP address (one in each subnet consumed by those VLANs). The Cisco Switch is configured with one vlan, and a default-gateway, but nothing goes out from behind the switch. ping vrf DMZ 172.18.1.254, i get a good replay, this is when the ip address 172.18.1.254 is configured on a routed interface of mine multy layer switch. I left some routes en config of other interfaces away because this is off the company. So, for example, let's take a Catalyst 6506. Marwanshawi thx for your reaction, i included te config. What I mean by that is creating a loopback interface and placing it in the particular VLAN as opposed to assigning the VLAN interface an IP address directly.
